The Flow Calibration Specialists

Young Calibration performs and advises on all aspects of calibration from instrument specification to whole life support costs. Our independent services, range from laboratory based to in-situ and onsite and UKAS accredited to ISO 17025 accredited (Lab 0604). The company offers unbiased and independent solutions for instrument calibrations in the fluid flow, gas flow, air velocity, pressure, electrical, temperature and humidity fields. All the company’s calibration facilities are traceable to national standards and meet the requirements of ISO 17025. Calibrations are available to varying degrees of accuracy to enable customers to receive the most suitable and cost competitive calibration for their instrument.

Air Velocity Calibration

Presently the UK’s highest accuracy UKAS accredited wind tunnel, covering 0.05 to 80 m/s. The air velocity calibration and anemometer calibration services are undertaken in the laboratories’ universal wind tunnel, offering extreme accuracy in both low and high speed operating modes. All types of anemometers and wind speed instruments can be calibrated. The facility can offer independent, UKAS accredited air velocity calibration for all types of pitot static tubes, probes, vanes and general anemometers. International recognition is also attained via the ILAC MRA laboratory co-operation agreement.

UKAS accredited air velocity calibrations can also be undertaken covering the UKs’ MCERTS requirements for environmental emissions, using type E and type S pitot static tubes and air velocity calibrations covering Part L Building regulations under the Air Tightness Testing and Measurement Association (ATTMA) requirements.

  • Thermal Anemometers
  • Vane Anemometers
  • Yaw Probes
  • L and S Stack Emissions Probes

  • Volume Flow to 1200 litres/sec

Water Flow Calibration

UKAS accredited flowmeter facility for volume and mass based calibrations either as a flow rate or batch collection calibration. Each calibration rig consists of comparison, volume and gravimetric technologies to enable cross checking verification and to allow customer tailored calibrations to suit individual customer accuracy and cost requirements. The suite of calibration flow rigs cover a flow range of 20 ml/hr (injection systems) up to 6000 litre/min (150mm diameter) and can accommodate threaded, flange, spigot, medical and hygienic type fittings.

  • Coriolis
  • Magnetic
  • Turbine
  • Variable Area
  • Positive Displacement
  • Vortex
  • Ultrasonic

Alternatively, calibrations can be undertaken on a range of hydrocarbon oils if required.

Air Flow Calibration

The company is one of the few in the UK to offer UKAS accredited air flow calibrations, on any type of meter and from any manufacturer. The calibration laboratory houses three separate flow calibration rigs and covers an air flow range covering 1 cc/min to 1300 litres/sec. Enhancing the air flow laboratory, the gas flow laboratory can undertake flowmeter calibrations on a range of industrial gases.

The flow laboratory offers are range of metering technologies to provide the best calibration solution for customer meters whether this be at elevated static pressures, batch based, blown or suction, open to atmosphere or regulated back pressure, the Young laboratory is one of the UK’s most versatile air flow calibration facilities available.

The company can provide service and repair of flowmeters and offers a Priority calibration service for emergency requirements. All flowmeter calibrations are undertaken in the Young laboratory and not subcontracted to other parties.

  • Sizes up to 200 mm diameter
  • Coriolis
  • Turbine
  • Mass Flowmeters and Controllers
  • Variable Area
  • dP Devices
  • Thermal Meters
  • Laminar Elements
  • Postive Displacement

Pressure Calibration

UKAS accredited calibration for pneumatic and hydraulic pressure available in the laboratory and limited schedule for onsite based work. Absolute, differential and gauge sensors, gauges, transmitters and transducers can be calibrated. Pressure calibration for onsite locations up to 1100 barg hydraulic and 36 barA pneumatic.

Temperature and Humidity Calibration

The laboratory offers a range of temperature and humidity calibrations traceable to national standards using high performance reference instruments from leading instrument suppliers such as Isotech, Hart Scientific, Jofra, GE and Rotronic. Temperature calibration using environmental chambers, furnaces, liquid baths and dry block calibrators covering a range of -40°C to 1200°C and humidity calibration covering 10 – 90% RH using environmental chambers across a temperature range 0 to 60°C and calibration salts for ambient or difficult access areas.

Onsite Calibration

The Young Calibration team can visit your premises to calibrate your instruments at a time and place more suitable to you. The company recognises the impact on a business of removing and shipping instruments to an external calibration laboratory and so continues its onsite expansion to minimise customer disruption.

Our dedicated service and calibration team offer a cost effective and high quality onsite service for, flow, temperature, pressure, humidity, mass, torque and electrical parameters.

  • Onsite calibration reduces your downtime
  • Increases equipment utilisation and business efficiency
  • Minimises instrument damage to your equipment not being shipped
  • Saves on shipping costs
  • Saves on instrument hire costs
  • Saves on labour for removal and refitting
  • Is the most cost effective solution for workloads of more than 1 day
