Silicon Designs, a U.S. based and veteran-owned designer and manufacturer of highly rugged industrial- and inertial-grade MEMS capacitive accelerometer chips, modules, and supporting data acquisition, today announced the immediate appointments of both Kvalitest Industrial Oy and Kvalitest Industrial AB as its authorised global technical sales representatives in Finland and Sweden, respectively.
Kvalitest is a value-added technical distributor which provides high-performance test and measurement products and solutions to the research, production, and maintenance sectors of the Nordic region. With local offices in both Finland and Sweden, Kvalitest employs a total of nine experienced, fully dedicated, and full-time test & measurement professionals, all of whom collectively offer a combined 100 years of experience in the technical sales, marketing, and applications engineering support of sensors and instrumentation, including in MEMS capacitive accelerometers, chips and related data acquisition.
For over 35 years, the Kirkland, Washington, USA-based Silicon Designs has designed and manufactured industrial- and inertial-grade MEMS capacitive accelerometer modules and chips for a variety of zero-to-medium frequency instrumentation applications, including in aerospace, automotive, industrial, oil and gas, robotics, and test & measurement.
The company was founded in 1983, thanks in large part to the support of a United States Small Business Innovation Research grant (SBIR). This initial SBIR grant award gave Silicon Designs the invaluable opportunity to support the now-retired Star Wars program with the development of a new radiation-hardened accelerometer. It would also become the first in what has now grown into a total of 25 SBIR Phase I and Phase II awards to Silicon Designs in related technology areas since that time. Today, Silicon Designs supplies both custom and COTS MEMS capacitive accelerometer modules and chips to thousands of industrial customers, as well as to numerous U.S. government and other approved global research facilities. All of the company’s products are 100% designed, manufactured, assembled, and tested in the USA at its state-of-the-art global corporate headquarters and R&D center.
