At the end of September, the annual Sensors & Instrumentation exhibition will be taking place at Birmingham’s NEC.
Following conversations over the last decade or so in which some believed that exhibitions were a ‘thing of the past’, it seems that their popularity is reviving. Companies are once again realising that exhibitions are a great place to showcase a wide variety of their products and distribute literature to a greater audience; while visitors understand that by attending an event they will not only be able to see a wide range of technologies in the one place, but they will be able to handle products and speak to knowledgeable engineers about their applications.
As a result, shows like Sensors & Instrumentation are seeing growing numbers
of visitors and exhibitors. In fact following the success of the 2013 event there has been unprecedented demand, so floor space has been expanded to meet requirements.
Technologies on show
Originally launched as Sensing Technology, the show evolved over the years to encompass even more products and technologies – resulting in the name change to Sensors & Instrumentation.
Visitors this year are therefore likely to see a variety of different product areas – including sensors and transducers, load cells, flow and level measurement solutions, calibration equipment, data acquisition products, and even cables and connectors.
Alongside these products will be a comprehensive seminar programme, where
visitors will be able to listen to knowledgeable people discussing a range of topics. Presentations in the past have ranged from measuring & monitoring remotely to flow measurement techniques.
The co-location
Sensors & Instrumentation 2014 will be co-located with Machine Building, Micro, Nano, MEMS and TCT Live, with Interplas and PPMA taking place at the same time. This will appeal to both visitors and exhibitors alike and is expected to increase footfall to the show.
In 2013, the Machine Building Show was introduced to co-locate alongside Sensors & Instrumentation. This features everything for the machine builder and system integrator, with the latest products and technologies on show.
Micro Nano MEMs, meanwhile, will feature the full spectrum of technologies from laser micromachining through to micro injection moulding, and from MEMS fabrication through to assembly, inspection and test equipment.
