Screen and printer, ideal combination

Two panel mount product families aimed at the control and instrumentation markets, the Afolux panel PC range from IEI and the Edito panel mounted printer from Seiko. Both provide a reliable basis for panel manufactures to incorporate in finished designs. Both are available from  your official UK distributor BVM Limited.

Mid range Panel PC for control and monitoring

The AFOLUX Gen III Panel PC family has been greatly extended bringing a wide choice of screen size and CPU performance with either a resistive or multi-touch capacitive touch screen, simplifying the selection of the correct unit for any application. From a simple input device to an advanced HMI there is an Afolux Panel PC to suit. The Afolux Gen III presents an attractive smooth front with an IP65 rating. Screen sizes range from 7″ 1024×700 pixel through 8″,10″,12″ up to 15″. Both wide screen and 4:3 formats are available. Other ranges cater for larger sizes. The latest Bay Trail Celeron CPU’s from Intel ensure cool running and fanless operation. Full software support is available for Windows 7 Embedded and Windows 10 IoT. Optional webcam and RFID readers add to the capabilities of these units. Typical applications include factory HMI, building automation, digital signage and stock control and picking in warehouses and secure access control.

Two Gigabit Ethernet ports come as standard and there is an optional 802.11 b/g/n wireless LAN interface. Two USB3.0 and RS-232 ports are also provided for easy interfacing to external equipment. Mass storage is through an internal mSATA slot.

Power input is from the mains adaptor or 9 – 30 VDC.

Mounting a panel PC can sometimes be challenging but BVM has a comprehensive range of mounting accessories enabling the units can be wall, panel, stand or VESA mounted.

Robust thermal printer for panel mounting.

The new Edito range of direct-thermal kiosk printers from Seiko are designed for high use environments. Typical applications include printing process details, recipe printing, receipt printing in addition to their wider uses in parking, vending, ATMs, information and check-in terminals, retail kiosks and photo booths. Edito can be used in both indoor and outdoor kiosks. There are four models in the family: a basic cut and drop type, an output control version with anti-jam and pull protection, a model with presenter control to save paper handling and another with full present and retract functions. For convenience and ease of use, innovative features such as Feed and Print buttons are included on the front and rear of the printers and the multi-coloured illuminated bezel can be set to show the printer status.

All Edito printers employ the highly reliable, wide -20 to +70°C operating temperature CAPM347 printer mechanism. The flexible paper channel accepts paper width from 58 to 83 mm, and the large diameter 7-position paper arm, which accepts paper rolls up to 200mm in diameter, can be mounted on the left or the right of the unit. For applications requiring pre-printed tickets, a black-mark sensor is built into the paper channel, together with a tension unit that acts as a clutch and prevents the paper roll from unwinding after high-speed prints.

USB drivers for Windows and Linux are provided. Many fonts are embedded and 20 additional fonts in character sizes from 6×8 to 64×64 dots can be downloaded. Up to 20 user fonts and 20 bitmap images can be stored in flash memory. The sophisticated firmware and software tools can monitor printer status and perform upload and download of printer settings to save time when configuring a batch of printers.

Power requirements are 24 VDC.
