Process Instrument Sales’ win showcases importance of instrumentation in industrial manufacturing in UK

Process Instrument Sales has won a large contract to supply all the process instrumentation and valves for the world class digital manufacturing integration into Treatt’s £41m new global headquarter development at Suffolk Park, UK.

Process Instruments, working with Burkert and Siemens, will install, calibrate and service instrumentation at the plant.  At the heart of this project is total integrated automation, including providing all the sensors to ensure quality and precision across all lines of production.  The project involves over 750 valves to control the process and approximately 350 instruments to measure level, pressure and flow.  The site will include laboratories, offices, manufacturing and distillation facilities, with work starting now.

Jon Tayler, Director at Process Instrument Sales, “Industrial manufacturing will be a key driver for the UK economy over the coming months.  We are working with lots of local, national and international companies who realise the difference that process instrumentation can make to improve productivity, safety and environment concerns as well as cost to market.  Data collection of management analysis and continuous improvement to lower costs and increase efficiency is essential for any business.”

Emmet O’Sullivan from Burkert commented “As the leading manufacturer of valves, sensors and controllers we have been working in partnership with Process Instrument Sales.  Our role is to ensure extreme precision when it comes to optimising processes, which ensures they are implemented with maximum efficiency and at minimum effort.”

Mark Higham, General Manager, Process Automation, Siemens  continued, “We are working with Process Instrument Sales to deliver total integrated automation. Our teams of specialists work together with our partner companies to identify and meet the challenges of the future for manufacturers.

“With digitalisation, we help manufacturers become agile, and provide tools for reducing operations costs whilst increasing efficiency and reducing time to market. In addition, our fully integrated safety and security concepts ascertain a safe production environment for employees and the facilities where they are deployed.”

The hygienic food and beverage industry is following in the footsteps of the pharmaceutical industry in using automation to greatly improve their process optimisation. As the lockdown from COVID-19 starts to ease, many plant managers are looking to automation and feedback as ways to keep their plants operating whilst being able to monitor them remotely.
