KRYPTON ONE – awarded Product of the Month in NASA TECH BRIEFS

Dewesoft’s KRYPTON ONE is the world’s smallest single-channel data acquisition module for field testing in harsh environments. This award-winning DAQ system will survive extreme temperatures, water spray or submersion, high shock and extreme vibrations. Dewesoft has just announced that KRYPTON ONE was selected for PRODUCT OF THE MONTH award by NASA Tech Briefs.

Making precise scientific measurements in hostile environments has always been one of the biggest challenges for test engineers. Most data acquisition instruments on the market are designed for a laboratory or factory floor environment and do not fare well when exposed to extreme temperatures, water spray or submersion, or high shock and vibration.

To address this need, Dewesoft invented multi-channel KRYPTON data acquisition modules, which offer up to 16 channels each. They are designed to IP67, a very robust standard. Easy to interconnect using EtherCAT protocol over a single thin cable that provides data, sync and power to the modules, which can be daisy-chained and spread out over 100m (328 ft).

Engineers quickly adopted the KRYPTON series, mounting them right up against running car and aircraft engines, or anywhere where extreme temperatures are found – anywhere from -40° to 85°C (185°F). A 100% humidity is obviously no issue for a product that can be completely submerged underwater indefinitely, and work perfectly. But despite the small size of these multi-channel modules, engineers sked for even more modularity without losing the incredible environmental specifications. The prerogative is to allow the engineers to place the conditioner as close to the sensor as possible, even in very hostile environments like an engine compartment. This results in the shortest possible sensor cables which not only saves cost inexpensive sensor cables but improves the signal quality.

After intensive development and testing, Dewesoft was pleased to announce a whole new series of KRYPTON modules with all of the same environmental robustness as the multi-channel series called the KRYPTON ONE. These tiny single-channel modules measure just 62 x 56 x 29 mm (2.44 x 2.2 x 1.14 inches).

Each KRYPTON module is machined from an aluminium brick. After the industrial-grade electronics are installed, the units are then sealed with thermally conductive and electrically isolating rubber. Units are waterproof, shockproof, and can withstand shocks up to 100G. KRYPTON modules provide IP67 degree of protection against water, dust and other elements is assured.
