High-precision international meets in Geneva

One of a kind, the EPHJ-EPMT-SMT Show is known worldwide for the quality of exhibiting companies and for the diversity of innovations presented. The players in three sectors (watchmaking, jewelry, micro-technologies and medtech), whose synergies are no longer to be found, meet every year in Geneva to confront the market and present their products or services to some 20,000 professionals visitors from five continents. Known for its concentration of innovations, the EPHJ-EPMT-SMT Show is well-known, above all for its ability to allow more than 800 exhibitors to develop new business. This is essential for these companies from 18 countries.

Foster innovation

Fostering innovation and encouraging entrepreneurship is not just an intention at EPHJ-EPMT-SMT, it’s something that is translated into reality. Having demonstrated a real vision by combining watchmaking know-how, microtechnologies and medical technologies under one roof, and having created a hub of start-ups in 2017, the organisers of the EPHJ-EPMT-SMT show are went even further by launching the first “Watch Medtech Innovation” challenge, in collaboration with the Inartis Foundation in 2018.

The objective of this challenge is to bring out, support and accompany new transdisciplinary projects. Indeed, companies active in the field of watchmaking are still more likely to take advantage of their know-how to diversify into the medtech sector. There were 365 in 2018. But this evolution is not so simple; “You have to turn the idea into reality,” says Alexandre Catton, director of EPHJ-EPMT-SMT. The desire for diversification can exist among our exhibitors, what is lacking the most it is often the means and the support to achieve it. This challenge meets this expectation and shows that new potentials exist. It will be renewed in 2019 “.

The Exhibitors’ Grand Prix

When we talk about innovation, we inevitably think about the EPHJ-EPMT-SMT Exhibitors’ Grand Prix. This has become a reference, which ensures the winners benefit, besides a free module, from notoriety and welcome media exposure. The former winners of the Grand Prix are unanimous on this point. Winner in 2018, the SY & SE start-up convinced the jury with a new revolutionary technology for assembling materials, without glue or welding: the ICB (Impulse Current Bonding). A breakthrough innovation promised a bright future. Who will succeed them in 2019?
