HazardPRO certified for use in explosive environments

Electro-Sensors has obtained Intrinsically Safe Class II Div. 1 certification for the HazardPRO wireless hazard monitoring nodes and sensors.

This certification allows the installation of HazardPRO’s sensors and nodes in locations where combustible dust is or may be in suspension in the air under normal operating conditions, in quantities sufficient to produce explosive or ignitable mixtures. Class II Div. 1 is the highest rating for combustible dusts as defined by OSHA and can exist in facilities across many markets Electro-Sensors serves.

Working closely with a third-party certification lab, Electro-Sensors was able to leverage experience gained through previous certification projects along with engineering expertise with intrinsically safe circuit design to achieve approval in a timely and efficient manner. “The Class II Div. 1 certification of our nodes combined with a broad portfolio of certified intrinsically safe sensors sets HazardPRO apart from other hazard monitoring systems,” said Rick Eller, Electro-Sensors’ sales and business development manager.

Electro-Sensors offers three HazardPRO models that have been deployed in numerous industries and varying environments across the US, Canada and Mexico. The system integrates with existing plant control systems and offers customers secure remote access anytime from anywhere, using any mobile device.

The hazard monitoring system captures and displays key information via an interactive touchscreen interface, allowing users to quickly understand the status of their plant. It provides real-time charting capabilities and comprehensive historical data archiving.
