Flowquip expand their flow meter calibration capability

Flowmeter calibration specialists Flowquip have recently built and commissioned a new mobile oil calibration rig. The rig is capable of providing traceable calibration of Small bore piston, Gear, Helical screw, Turbine and Coriolis flow meters over a wide range of viscosities and flow rates from 0.25 l/min to 50 l/min.

Flowquip’s Director Rob Bloomfield said “Our calibration systems and techniques are constantly evolving due to increased demand from our customers. The oil rig has been designed to provide quick, accurate, traceable and cost effective flow meter calibration. With over 10 calibrations done in the first week the new rig is already proving to be a real asset”

Flowquip have been offering competitively priced in-house traceable flowmeter calibration on water for over 10 years, they can calibrate meter sizes 1mm in diameter up to 200mm diameter with a flow range available of up to 4000 litres per minute and a minimum capacity of just 1 litre per hour.

Flowmeters should be checked and calibrated annually or at least every two years. In order to prove a flowmeters performance and accuracy it must be checked against a reference device such as a master flowmeter or master weigh scale.

All of Flowquip’s reference flowmeters and weigh scales are calibrated annually and are traceable to independent UKAS calibration laboratories. Throughout the year Flowquip’s calibration technicians carry out periodic verification of the master reference devices by cross checking and recording results from each device.

The majority of calibrations are carried out using cool clean water but with the new oil rig Flowquip can calibrate using light oils or Diesel fuel on special request. All pipework and tanks are manufactured from stainless steel and the water is filtered and screened to ensure no debris can enter the system. If required our calibration facility can be hired out for witness calibration or OEM product testing.

Typical turnaround time for flow meter calibration is two to three days but Flowquip also offer a same day turnaround and a ‘while you wait’ service at extra cost. A standard calibration is five points with two repeats as standard a ten points calibration with electronic linearization is available on request.

Any manufacturers flow meters be accommodated in both of the flow rigs, these can be quickly and easily connected with flanged, screwed or wafer process connections.

Flowquip also offer a  repair service to many types and makes of flowmeter providing that any spare parts required are still available.
