Fast temperature switch

Temperature switches from ifm electronic are renowned for very fast response and precise measurement thanks to the advanced technology used in production, and the new TA series is no exception. A high level of accuracy is achieved using a class A Pt1000 sensing elements and factory calibration. In addition, ifm’s tried and tested film technology ensures excellent dynamic response times. So this sensor is suited for temperature-sensitive processes needing rapid response and high precision.

These loop-powered sensors show the user immediately that they are ready for operation with the power status LED, a feature often lacking in such devices.  The high- precision construction means the TA sensor will react as quickly as 1 second (T05) or three seconds (T09).  Depending on the version, the user can scale the default measuring range of -50 to 150 °C by using the IO-Link interface, a new standard rapidly gaining acceptance.   Others units in the range are fixed to measure 4 to 20mA over a pre-scaled 0-100 degrees.  By their very nature applications of temperature sensors can cover a wide span of ambient temperatures, so the TA series is designed to withstand -40 to 100 °C outside the process.

The new TA series is available with a ¼” or ½” process thread, and with a choice of six probe lengths between 25mm and 200mm in the different variants.  A body length (without the probe) less than 60mm and a diameter less than 20mm characterise the compactness of the TA series.

The robust stainless steel housing of the TA series sensors means they are all well protected mechanically and can withstand high pressures, up to a maximum of 400 bar. The housing is sealed up to a protection rating of IP69K.  In addition to mechanical robustness, the TA range is able to withstand a noisy electrical environment, making them a great solution for mobile machinery as well as industrial applications.

The probe section of the TA is a standard 6mm in diameter, so it will fit commercially-available thermowells, and as the TA is so quick to respond, using a thermowell with the TA will result in a faster measurement than most others on the market.

For connection the TA can be supplied with standard industrial M12 connectors, while the mobile application are covered with versions featuring Deutsch or AMP plugs.

ifm is committed to working closely with its customers to develop products which precisely match their needs, and the company provides expert, readily accessible technical support to help users maximise the benefits they gain from ifm products.
