Dave Oakes, Powelectrics MD, reviews the first half Of 2022

We caught up with Dave Oakes, Powelectrics MD to find out how the company is progressing through 2022.

“Happily, we are starting to emerge from the Covid-related challenges of the recent past. Twelve months ago, I couldn’t have believed how much Powelectrics would have achieved at this point in time!

“Covid highlighted the benefits of remote monitoring to many new industrial sectors. For Powelectrics, that has meant that 2021 was a record year, our 2022 order book is impressive and our sales pipeline has never been so strong.

“Robust forecasting and strong support from our supply chain have certainly played their part. However, with ‘chipageddon’ still very much a reality, we are encouraging our historical customer base to consider their telemetry estates in light of the 2G sunset, so that we can plan production to meet their needs.

“Powelectrics has benefitted enormously from the introduction of Metron Intelligence, a powerful suite of IIoT building blocks, integrating GSM/GPRSSigfoxLoRa, RS232, RS485, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, CAN, MODBUS & IO-Link to our MetronView cloud.

“Metron Intelligence has enabled several project wins, offering the benefits of digital transformation to a greatly expanded range of process control and factory automation applications.

“2022 has also seen Powelectrics launch our first subsidiary!! PowUtilities delivers SMART electricity, gas & water metering technology for multi-occupancy sites, such as residential & holiday parks, managed & serviced offices & industrial units.

“PowUtilities solutions are founded on incredibly well-proven metering technology, currently installed on thousands of UK residential & holiday homes. Delivering accurate, automatic metering & centralized billing, it’s a genuine win-win for site owners and tenants alike. Ongoing issues with foreign travel only serve to highlight the enormous potential in the UK holiday home market alone. Based on interest levels so far, I anticipate extremely rapid growth!

“The creation of addition key roles to bring specific expertise in-house is now bearing fruit. Our expanded R&D and IIoT Solution Architecture functions have delivered flexibility to develop bespoke solutions for a range of sector-specific applications, particularly in relation to remote condition-based monitoring to prevent downtime.

Building on this, Powelectrics are now collaborating with academic institutions, creating ‘innovation’ placements for bright, young people to bring the latest knowledge and best practice to our business … offering fresh eyes, whilst gaining real-world experience. More here.

These are exciting times! We have never been able to solve so many business challenges, for so many customers, in such a huge range of sectors!

“Powelectrics offer over 30 years of expertise & practical experience in instrumentation & digitalization. We deliver IIoT solutions globally, with a deep understanding of the Industrial Internet of Things, backed up by ISO9001 and ISO27001.

“We get customer data flowing, from a first step towards digital transformation, a proof of concept … to an international estate of connected assets!

“I strongly encourage people to explore our website, which offers over 30 real application case studies and is searchable by sectorsolution and product.  Please get in touch to discuss your applications.

“We have never been better placed to help you achieve your business goals!”
