N-Prime

Nprime is a privately-owned engineering consultancy supplying testing services and systems to every facet of engineering. Over 14 years Nprime has built and developed confidence, trust and respect within the test environment whether that is from a single strain gauge installation to a turnkey thousand channel solution. Our customer base encompasses military, civil, aerospace, mining, off road, etc. The variety of work carried out can vary from the installation of instruments to supplying installation technicians, test engineers and test equipment either as a rental or a sale.

Our facilities include a 4000m2 office / workshop building by J33a on the M1, with a 1200m2 testing area and planning permission granted to extend the building. This expansion will help Nprime develop for the future. We have very close connection with the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC) and the University of Sheffield. We utilise the Rise graduate recruitment scheme and have found this to be a significant success towards the growth of Nprime. Our apprentices are trained at the Training college at the AMRC.

Our facilities include:

  • Tension and compression test rigs.
  • Torsion test rig for test and calibration services.
  • dual 5 tonne gantry and a 2.2 tonne pedestal cranes.

These ensure that we can handle the largest of components and a deliver program of work in a timely manner.

As Nprime is independent we have over the years developed relationships with some of the best data measurement companies. While we have flexibility to choose the best component for the best projects, we can rely on our principles to support us. These relationships have allowed us to supply and maintain this equipment and have the ability the react to our customers’ needs as we have a significant inventory of equipment that we own. This has recently been increased to over three thousand channels of capability. These companies include:

  • IMC
  • KMT
  • Caemax

On the Aerospace side of the business we supply and support the following customers:

  • Quasonix
  • Smartronix
  • GDP
  • Delta Video
  • Symvionics
  • CDSI
  • CBIL GPS

Nprime has become a best in class at delivering telemetry solutions. These include close range telemetry up to 10 meters with 2.4 GHz transmission frequency right up to aerospace and space solutions. We supply solutions to most aerospace companies in the UK and have worked internationally with others. We have been able to exploit new technologies to our benefit and the future of remote monitoring is the sensor internet of things whereby we can position sensors anywhere in the world and then read remotely. New analysis techniques mean that the amount of data that is being transferred is reduced significantly. Getting the right data to the right person at the right time!

Nprime can make anything into a load cell. This is a statement we stand by. Force cells, torque cell, these are things we do every day and are our bread and butter. We can instrument a shaft to measure torque, fit telemetry, calibrate and have the instrumented shaft back with the customer in two days.

A major part of Nprime’ s growth is based on our strategic partnerships. This is where we offer our services, experience, equipment and resources to companies to help them fulfil their testing needs. By companies utilising this relationship they can draw on the experience and benefit from the flexible and reactive nature of Nprime. Recently this relationship was complemented by a global OEM for them “getting their testing back on track”.

Striving to always think outside of the box, 20% of company turnover and a dedicated team work on research and development. Developing the sensor solution of the future! While data acquisition systems are very well defined and deliver what the customer needs, how the information is delivered to the used and how it is analysed and interpreted is still in development and will be for some time. Getting the right information to the right person at the right time is what we deliver. Understanding the data, removing unwanted data, carrying out the analysis so the client is freed to make decisions based on the data. That is what we do.
